A lot of people do not know this but it actually takes a lot of time and effort to get six pack abs. There is no magic pill that will do it for you. But all it takes is some time and effort. In this article I will explain how your diet should be for maximum fat loss and put together a solid abs work out.

1) Nutrition - Your diet is the most important part of getting six pack abs. You cannot expect to get great results with a poor diet. Not only this but you need to eat the kinds of foods that fuel your body for your abs work out.

Start by eating unprocessed foods like lean meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and beans. All these foods teach your body to burn fat and build muscle.

Eat more often. To shrink your belly fat it is best to have 5-6 small meals a day. If you find this inconvenient then prepare your meals in advanced. Many people with a hectic schedule find it easier to cook their meals early in the morning before heading out.

Start each day with a nice breakfast. Something like a bowl of apple cinnamon oatmeal you made yourself. This is good because oatmeal is loaded with complex carbs to keep your energized for the day.

With each meal get a balance of protein, carbs, and fats. Some solid choices for protein are milk, eggs, fish, chicken, and cottage cheese.

Get more fat in your diet. It does not make you fat. Healthy fats like the kinds found in oils and nuts are very good for your body. Monosaturated fats and polysaturated fats are known to clean out the body. Some sources include almonds, olive oil, avocados, and eggs.

As for carbs you should be getting fruits and veggies with each meal. They are loaded with carbs and fiber without the calories of starchy catbs. Foods like pasta, oats, bread, and rice should be limited to two meals a day. The best times are for breakfast and after a workout to help your body recover.

2) Developing an abs work out. You should never do basic crunches on the floor. These strain your back and neck and have no real effect on your abs.

Instead center your workouts around compound movements like squats, chest presses, rows, and deadlifts. These kinds of exercises burn a lot of belly fat and build muscle all over.

Then add some effective ab exercises to your abs work out. A couple great examples are reverse crunches and crunches on an exercise ball.
